KUEHONG – The Supreme Court of Kuehong has just concluded the trial of three prominent members, which include an official of the National Health Bureau (NHB), of an organ smuggling syndicate by sentencing them to death for their involvement in blood and organ trafficking.
On 23 February this year, the Kuehongese Military Police has launched a crackdown on an organ trafficking ring and managed to arrest key members of the syndicate. The syndicate has been operating in the rural areas of Kuehong, with members alleging that they are conducting their activities as part of the International Red Shield Movement. The IRS Movement in Kuehong was notified of this scheme and immediately alerted the military police, which clamped down on the syndicate.
The first trials for the highest ranking members of the syndicates have just been concluded, with three of them sentenced to death for blood and organ trafficking. The NHB official has also been charged for corruption to help further the syndicates’ activities and embezzlement of NHB funds.
“We do not tolerate illegal organ trafficking in our beloved country. Such people who wishes to profit from harvesting organs are despicable and should be condemned. There are no exceptions,” said the District Judge overseeing the case. “We also condemn the misuse of an organisation to further their crimes.”
“We also urge citizens in Kuehong to continue to be willing donors for those who are in need, but remain vigilant and do not accept bribes or gifts. Report to the authorities immediately if you spot any syndicate activities.”
The Red Shield is unavailable for comment. The next trial for another group of prominent members of the syndicate will start on 16 May. The members includes three high ranking military personnel, who have been stripped of their ranks and duties and has been charged for embezzlement and corruption.
