Upcoming weather may cause catastrophic floods for Zalivnia, projects WIE

After a series of clear and sunny days marking the beginning of a new spring, the cyclone Bori, coming from the western coast of North Archanta, may affect the lake level on the Egalian Lake, as well as raise the level of rivers in the region.

Weather forecast for major cities and region centers for 19th of April.

As the Weather Institute of Egalia (WIE) notes, the new West Archantan cyclone named Bori travelled already a major route from Naexma, where it started, and already packed a few punches on the nations of Liboria, Onissia, Sathria, Franqueterre, Pretannia and Suria, and quite recently the south of Chira, reaching the rest of Egalia tomorrow, staying there for 3 total days.

Although the cyclone weakened while traveling north, the warm winds that blow from Pretannia towards the Egalian Lake region, may cause it to strenghten just enough to provoke severe thunderstorms in Zalivnia, Litvania, Drabantia, and heavy rainfall in Meciara, Podolia, Beldonia, Mallyore and Petrokovia. As it passes Zalivnia and the Micheny and Zlatigora Mountains, it will continue to die out until it dissapears somewhere around southern Hyldien, as WIE projects.

The National Institute for Natural Disaster Prevention of Zalivnia (NISPK) says that the lakeshore areas of Zalivnia and the central plains will suffer the most, with the institute projecting all possible flood locations, including the ones that don’t have a high change happening.

As noted on the map above, the most critical places would be Belo Polje, Međudvorje, Novovo, Novi Mitrovci, Potujnica and Vubeš. The biggest largely affected cities include Krmena, Skroj, Čarnograd, Novo Polivno and Žitište, all with a population of more than 50,000 people. Although the northern parts wouldn’t be as affected as the south and central parts, there is still a possibility of floods, most notably in the area around Markovac and the Roguško Lake. The capital, Ulinje, would be affected in the areas of New Ulinje, the city centre and Rakitje, while the rest would be lightly affected due to the districts being on hiller terrain.

Some places have already put their defences in hopes of decreasing the damage caused by floods if they go according to the projection. The city of Belotin in the southeast has placed about a 1,000 sacks on the Egalian shoreline.

Although the cyclone has already caused much more damage to the rest of the affected nations, most notably Liboria and Onissia while it was still at it’s prime strenght, the biggest problem for Zalivnia is the already high river and lake level, that was raised by the melted snow, whose floods already hit a few villages near Čarnograd and the Krivaja Meanders Protected Area.

We will have to wait a couple days to see what will happen, and until then the citizens of Zalivnia and the neighboring nations have to stay strong in case the worst happens.
