BAMBUSHO, COMMONWEALTH OF CENTRAL ARCHANTA – Separatist militants called Kalagane claimed responsibility for an armed attack and hostage situation earlier today (6/9) on CCA-FSA’s associated company; Commonwealth Oil and Energy’s Mangkuane refinery just 250 km from the capital city of Bambusho.
In the morning, the attack was occurred around 5.28 AM, when the refinery’s night guards are doing shift change with the day shift. Four big explosions were heard 5 minutes before the initial non-stop ceasefire between guards and militant. The day shift guards from Mangkuane were ambushed by another force that killed about eight people from the guard side. Around 9.50 AM, it is reported that militant already took control of the refinery, claiming to hold more than a hundred of the hostage.
In response to the attack, President George Nakumbaro made a statement to implement martial law in the northern part of East Ukuxhasa and N’tsawaran until the situation is under the Commonwealth army’s control.
Until this afternoon, the Ministry of Defence, Molu Joseph Mbune stated that the forces still complied with the militant’s demand to prevent the hostage from getting killed. He also said that there would be a deadline tonight before the special forces came in the main building to standoff with the militant and free the hostage.
This event is the most massive militant attack for ten years in CCA history. Previously back in the 1990s, an oil refinery was the primary attack target for terrorist and militant rebels. It was predicted that this event would push down the Commonwealth Oil and Energy’s oil stock and millions of dollars loss.
