The pre-announced general elections in 2023 are going to take place on 25th February 2023. Together with the general elections the vote will be done for the administrative as well.
General Elections
The general elections, which took place on 1st July 2018, are going to take place again on 25th February 2023. The senate just approved the proposal with 28 votes in favour, 7 against and 2 abstainers. The decision to call for new elections 4 months in advance is due to the needing of the government to get the citizen’s approval due to the rising political instability.
With the current electoral system, which is going to be applied for the next elections, the parties are seeking for coalitions, even though the opposition parties are probably going to remain together, the future of the “Together” coalition is unsure.
Administrative Elections
The administrative elections, to elect presidents of regions and mayor of towns, are going to take place the same day of the general elections, in order to increase the turnout.
The regions which must elect their new president are Lower Tamor and Londu. The biggest towns to elect their new mayor are: Incubel, Pegnem, Kudaraus, Kalotte, Tor, Nasurker, Hadet, Nasustor and Tresough.
The regional elections are forecasted to be a big win for “Free Tamor”, the centre-left coalition of the country which is already ruling in Lower Tamor.
